Ueber den Blogeintrag vom Themenmixer bin ich auf folgende Statistikwebseite zum Thema Fussball Weltmeisterschaft 2006 gestossen. Nicht das mich das brennend interessieren wuerde, aber eine Spalte hat es mir besonders angetan: “Not singing Anthem”. Spitzenreiter ist hier uebrigens Argentinien mit 33 Verstoessen (ist nur die Frage was hier gezaehlt wird: Spieler, Spielerfrauen, Fans? )

With the new release of Flock 0.7.1 the flickr.com proxy bug is fixed. Somebody else found it, I fixed it.

Open Source works!

Nach dem mein Server mich gestern ein wenig im Stich gelassen hat, sind nun die Fotos sowohl hier auf meiner Seite und auch bei Flickr.com zum anschauen.

Wie gesagt, war ich ja am Wochenede wieder im Sueden Frankreichs unterwegs um Nancy zu besuchen. Damit ihr nicht vollkommen im Dunkeln tappen muesst, hier einige Fotos:

After some remarks of a colleague and some readings here and there in Golem or Heise, I installed this new thing of a browser called Flock. It integrates almost all the services I need to be happy. I can manage my del.ico.us bookmarks, manage my pictures at flickr.com and post entries to my blog. I am happy. And if you are so much into Web 2.0 as well, go ahead and install it too.

Manche Menschen meckern immer wieder ueber die Unpuenktlichkeit der Bahn, heute moechte ich ueber die Unpuenktlichkeit von Fluggesellschaften meckern. Da ich ja nun mittlerweile so etwas wie ein frequent Flyer auf der Strecke Berlin/Nizza bin, bin ich ja schon einiges gewohnt. Auch ausfallende Fluege sind mir nicht unbekannt (verbunden mit Nachtfahrten im Auto quer durch die Alpen bei wuestem Schneetreiben). Trotzdem aergert es mich immer wieder warten zu muessen.

Diesmal ist zwar mein Flug nicht ausgefallen, doch hatte immerhin holde 3 Stunden Verspaetung. Natuerlich war es wie immer nicht die Schuld von Easyjet, nein! Passagiere, die zwar ihr Gepaeck eingecheckt hatten, aber nicht zum Flug erschienen sind, haben dafuer gesorgt, dass jeder Passagier sein Gepaeckstueck identifizieren musste. Danach hatte man seinen Startslot verpasst und musste noch eine ganze Weile auf einen neue Startmoeglichkeit warten.

Nach zwei Stunden des Wartens, verteilte nun Easyjet freundlicherweise Refreshment Vouchers fuer die wartenden Passagiere im Gegenwert von 4,80 EUR. Nun fragt man sich, was soll man damit auf dem Flughafen von Nizza machen, wo selbst das billigste Baguette 4,60 EUR kostet. Aber egal, die Masse mampft und ist ruhig.

Doch der absolute Hoehepunkt war fuer mich das Fliegen selber. In dem wunderschoenen Airbus mit einem Sitzabstand von ca. -45 cm, sprich so viel, dass einem die Knie des Hintermanns sanft um die Ohren streichen, wurde die Innentemperatur soweit heruntergekuehlt, dass man sich fuehlte als wuerde man gerade eine Besichtigung eines Riesenkuehlschranks vornehmen. Gluecklicherweise waren die Damen und Herren Flugbegleiter so freundlich, dass sie sich irgendwann nach ca. 1 Stunde Flugzeit (und natuerlich der obligatorischen “Was wollen Sie kaufen?” Frage) in den hinteren Teil des Flugzeuges verzogen um einen gemuetlichen Schnack zu halten.

Dabei haben sie nur vollkommen uebersehen, dass sie die vordere Toilette abgeschlossen und die junge Dame die ca. 10 Minuten davor stand einfach ignoriert haben. Freundlichkeit ueber alles.

Doch ich will nun aufhoeren mich zu beschweren, ich werde wieder mit Easyjet fliegen und ich werde wieder warten, wenn mein Flug Verspaetung hat. Doch ich musste es einfach mal loswerden. Meckern erlaubt, oder?

Google together with Nike created a network for soccer fans world wide. This platform should allow users to exchange about their favorite game and of course send e-mails (Google?) and enjoy all those nice advertisments of the sponsors. So far, so good. But now they gone a step beyond. Together with Mozilla they built a Firefox extension to display results of current running games, to give the user the possibilites to participate in the network, search for videos related to soccer and display latest news.

Well, for me it looks like Google found a way to promote their video search (that is still in beta, as many other Google products), Yahoo found a way to promote their news sites and Nike found a way to be hip and cool.

On the other hand, if you install the extension and restart your browser you will be shocked. The newly installed extension will completely change the look & feel of your browser. At first you will be greeted with the star sprangeled banner on the top right and a brand new sidebar on the left. Fortunatly you can change the country your browser should look like, so that now my browser looks like a german flag.

The sidebar is not to usefull for me because I am NOT interested in latest soccer news and videos and other participation possibilities. The information provided about a game is usefull, giving detailed information about goals, yellow cards, red cards and so on. Since you can close the sidebar, there is a third way of interaction left.

The statusbar contains like Footiefox a information panel about the next game. For more detailed information you can enlarge it. This will bring up a new panel, which is for my gusto a little bit to big. If you close the panel again, you won’t see who is playing by now.

To make a conclusion, I say, that I prefer Footiefox. I dont like, that an extension changes the whole look and feel of my browser without giving me the possiblity to deny it. The info-popup is to big and there is to much information that I am not interested in. So I will remove this extenion again from my browser and will still be happy with Footiefox.
